KNITTED WOMB INSTRUCTIONS
Materials
Double knitting yarn in pale pink
4mm needles
4.5mm needles
9” of 1” wide Elastic
Tension
21sts and 27 rows to 10cm over stocking stitch on 4.5mm needles.
Using 4mm needles, cast on 78sts.
Work in K1, P1 rib for 8cm, ending with right side facing for next row.
Change to 4.5mm needles.
Next row (Right side): Knit, increasing 10 stitches evenly across the row (88sts).
Beginning with a P row, work in stocking stitch until work measures 19cm, ending with right side facing for next row.
Begin shaping
Row 1. (K9, K2tog) repeat to end (80sts)
Row 2 and every even row. Purl
Row 3. (K8, K2tog) repeat to end (72sts)
Row 5. (K7, K2tog) repeat to end (64sts)
Row 7. (K6, K2tog) repeat to end (56sts)
Row 9. (K5, K2tog) repeat to end (48sts)
Row 11. (K4, K2tog) repeat to end (40sts)
Row 13. (K3, K2tog) repeat to end (32sts)
Row 15. (K2, K2tog) repeat to end (24sts)
Row 17. (K1, K2tog) repeat to end. (16sts)
Row 18. Purl.
Cut yarn, thread loosely through remaining 16sts and fasten off.
Join seam using back stitch or mattress stitch. Turn up the ribbing to the inside of the uterus, attaching on the inside where the ribbing stops,sew up the hem formed, joining the cast on edge to the last row of ribbing. Leave a gap so that the elastic can be inserted, sew the ends of the elastic together, complete the hem.
